Apple iPhone XR Assembled In India Go On Sale

Apple iPhone XR assembled regionally has begun shipping. Apple recently began manufacturing the premium smartphones in India in a bid to expand its market in the sub-continent. Moreover, the ongoing trade war between China and the US requires Apple and other American companies to set their assembly bases in other regions.

The iPhone XR models are currently being assembled at Foxconn's factory in Chennai. Apple has an added advantage of manufacturing the smartphones in the country as it can avoid high levies and import duties of a full-built gadget. There are speculations that the price of Apple's smartphone will further drop for buyers in India.

The sale of the Apple iPhone XR assembled in India has begun. Many retail stores are now selling iPhone XR boxes with a tag saying 'Assembled in India'. Physical retail stores like Croma have begun selling the iPhone XR with the same tag.

Apple iPhone XR Price

As one of the least expensive iPhones launched in recent times, the iPhone XR is a popular Apple device in the country. Reuters says the iPhone XR is priced Rs. 49,900 for the basic variant in the country at the moment. When the smartphone was originally launched last year, it came with Rs. 76,900 price tag. Since then, there have been numerous price drops for the iPhone XR; the most recent one was during the Amazon Great Indian Shopping Festival which sold the basic variant of the iPhone XR for Rs. 39,999.

The iPhone XR ships with the Apple A12 Bionic Hexa-core chipset and iOS 12, which can be updated to the latest version of iOS 13. The premium smartphone has a 6.1-inch LCD, 3GB RAM, and a 2,942 mAh battery. Coming to the camera, there's a single rear camera of 12MP and the selfie camera has a 7MP shooter.

Apple Smartphones In India

The iPhone XR is the latest Apple device to begin assembly in India after the iPhone SE, 6S, and the 7. Apple is keen on shifting its assembly base out of China and India is a desirable option. It is also rumored that Apple might begin assembly of the iPhone 11 as well. However, the tech maker is yet to comment.
