Google Pixel 8 Pro design revealed in new leak: Here’s how the thermometer sensor works
Google recently showcased its first foldable phone and the Pixel 7a at its I/O 2023 event. However, there was no word about the Pixel 8 series at the event. However, we now have what appears to be an official look at the Pixel 8 Pro.
The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are expected to make their global debut later this year. We've already seen several leaks about the Pixel 8 series and the most recent one comes from 91mobiles. The publication recently showcased the design of the Pixel 8 Pro and showcased how the phone doubles as a thermometer.
Google Pixel 8 Pro Design
According to the report, the Google Pixel 8 Pro will feature a similar design as the Pixel 7 Pro. Moreover, the image shows a triple-camera setup on the back of the Pixel 8 Pro. However, unlike the Pixel 7 Pro, all three camera sensors here are clubbed together in a pill-shaped module.
The metal frame that houses the cameras is the same as seen on the Pixel 7 Pro. The three cameras are seen accompanied by an LED Flash and the new dedicated infrared thermometer sensor, which will used to measure body temperature. The images also reveal that this sensor will work like any other contactless thermometer.
How to use the Pixel 8 Pro Thermometer Sensor?
The report also reveals how thermometer sensor will work. Users will have to bring the white sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro close to their forehead or skin. It is worth noting that users shouldn't be wearing any accessories on their head while using the sensor.
Users can then tap the start button on the phone and move the sensor towards their temples within five seconds. The phone will automatically measure the temperature and vibrate when the process is done. The thermometer sensor will only be available on the Pixel 8 Pro and will also be able to measure the temperature of objects.
Google Pixel 8 Pro Specifications (Expected)
The Pixel 8 Pro will be powered by Google's upcoming Tensor G3 SoC, codenamed 'Zuma'. The Pixel 8 Pro will also get an updated 50 MP Samsung ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor. The 1/1.12-inch sensor size also makes it Samsung's biggest camera sensor yet.
The Pixel 8 Pro is also expected to sport an LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Quad HD+ resolution. The Google Pixel 8 Pro will also likely be the first smartphone to run Android 14 out of the box. The Google Pixel 8 series launch is expected to take place somewhere in October 2023.
