Honor’s Upcoming GT Phone Could Set New Battery Record with 9,000mAh Cell
While Honor is gearing up for the global debut of its Magic 8 Series, new reports from China suggest the company is also developing a new GT-series smartphone with an unusually large 9,000mAh battery. If true, it could mark one of the highest-capacity batteries ever seen in a mainstream smartphone.

A Massive Battery and a Flagship Chip
According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, Honor’s upcoming GT phone will pack a 9,000mAh silicon–carbon (Si/C) battery, paired with a Snapdragon 8 Gen-series flagship processor. The specific chip hasn’t been confirmed yet, but leaks point toward either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 or the higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Silicon–carbon batteries have been gaining traction across the smartphone industry this year, allowing brands to fit higher-capacity cells without making phones bulkier. Honor’s own GT Pro model already featured a 7,200mAh battery, and this rumored 9,000mAh successor would take that even further.
Part of a Performance-Focused Line
The GT lineup has always been Honor’s performance-driven sub-brand. These devices usually target gamers and heavy multitaskers, offering aggressive cooling systems, high refresh rate displays, and quick charging tech.
Reports suggest the new model might feature a 165Hz display, which would make it one of the fastest panels on any smartphone right now. Combined with a flagship Snapdragon chip and a large battery, it fits the GT family’s “high-power, long-play” identity.
Honor hasn’t commented on the leak yet, and there’s no official confirmation of when this phone might launch.
Magic 8 Series Launches Today
Meanwhile, Honor’s attention is currently on the Magic 8 Series, which officially launches today in China. The lineup includes the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro, both expected to run on MagicOS 10 based on Android 16, and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.
The phones are expected to bring design refinements, AI-driven camera tools, and display upgrades over last year’s Magic 7 lineup. Alongside the Magic 8 phones, Honor is also introducing new tablets during the same event.
