Nokia 8 India launch confirmed! HMD India sends invites for September 26 event

Earlier this week, there were reports tipping that the flagship smartphone from HMD Global, the Nokia 8 might be launched in India on September 26 and could be priced around Rs. 40,000.

Now, there appears to be a sort of a confirmation regarding the same. We say so as HMD India has started sending media invites for the event to be held on September 26 at 11:30 AM. The invite reads, "There are two sides to every story. Don't miss out on yours. Join us for unveiling the next milestone of Nokia Phones".

Given that the other Nokia smartphones are already available in the country, it is not surprising to conclude that the Nokia 8 will be launched in India at the next week's event. With the launch slated for September 26, the sale of the Nokia 8 is likely to happen in the second week of October. From the previous reports, it looks like the smartphone will be available via both the online and offline channels in the country.

It looks like HMD is all set to catch in on the Diwali shopping season with its Nokia 8 smartphone. The release timeframe falls around the festival tipping the same as claimed by the earlier reports. The Nokia 8 is believed to be priced somewhere between Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 45,000 but we are yet to get a confirmation regarding the same.

To recall, the Nokia 8 flaunts a 5.3-inch 2K IPS display with the Gorilla Glass 5 protection. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage capacity operate under the hood of the smartphone. There is a microSD card slot for expandable storage support up to 256GB. The smartphone was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and will support two years of OS support. We have already seen that the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Nokia 8 is under testing.

The Nokia 8 sports a 13MP dual camera setup at the rear with the Carl Zeiss brand. The camera module is accompanied with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and OIS. The selfie camera is also a 13MP sensor. The other goodies on board the flagship smartphone from HMD include Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, 4G VoLTE, 3.5mm audio jack, a fingerprint sensor and a 3090mAh battery.
