Update: Redmi has confirmed that the Redmi K90 series will launch in China on October 27. The new teaser also reveals the K90 Pro Max's white design with Bose-tuned audio, ultra-thin bezels, and a rectangular camera setup.

Redmi’s next big launch isn’t waiting till November after all. The company has officially confirmed that the Redmi K90 series will debut in China later this month, with a brand-new Pro Max model joining the lineup for the first time.

Redmi Moves Up Its Launch Window

The K-series has always been about packing top-tier performance at a more accessible price, and the upcoming Redmi K90 lineup seems ready to push that idea further. Initially expected to arrive in November, Redmi decided to move up the timeline — likely to grab early attention before year-end launches from rival brands.

According to Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, this year’s lineup will skip the traditional “Pro” variant. Instead, there’ll be a standard K90 and a K90 Pro Max, which Redmi is positioning as a “true flagship” in every sense.

Dual-Flagship Strategy

In a post on Weibo, Redmi said it’s going for a dual-flagship strategy this time around. The standard Redmi K90 will anchor the series, while the K90 Pro Max will sit above it, catering to users who want high-end performance without paying premium brand prices.

From what’s been shared so far, the K90 Pro Max will be priced above CNY 4,000 (around $560 / ₹49,000) — putting it in the same bracket as mid-range flagships from brands like iQOO, Realme, and OnePlus.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Could Power The Pro Max

While Redmi hasn’t detailed full specifications yet, leaks point to some serious upgrades. The K90 Pro Max is rumored to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset — the same chip powering the Realme GT 8 Pro, iQOO 15, and Xiaomi 17 series. Meanwhile, the base K90 could get the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which sits just below the Elite variant.

There’s also talk of a periscope telephoto camera, a first for the K-series, and 100W fast charging across both models. The Pro Max is also tipped to pack the largest battery in the lineup, which could make it the most balanced Redmi flagship yet.

Stepping Into The Flagship League

By adding a Pro Max version, Redmi seems to be blurring the line between its traditional value-flagship phones and Xiaomi’s premium flagships. The move could help Redmi compete directly with rivals like iQOO 13 Pro, Realme GT Neo 6 Ultra, and OnePlus Ace 4 Pro series in China.

More details, including design previews and launch date, should surface in the coming weeks — but one thing’s clear: Redmi’s new dual-flagship lineup marks an ambitious step for the brand.
