Redmi Could Launch a Phone with a 9,000mAh Battery — and a 10,000mAh Version Might Be Next
Redmi might be taking battery life to a new level. A new leak from China suggests the company is testing a smartphone that could feature a massive 9,000mAh battery — and there’s even talk of a 10,000mAh version being developed behind the scenes.

A Huge Leap in Smartphone Battery Tech
According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, a Chinese smartphone brand has finalized a single-cell 9,000mAh silicon-based battery that supports 100W fast charging. While the leak didn’t name the company directly, Chinese outlet MyDrivers believes Redmi could be behind it.
If true, this would make it one of the largest batteries ever seen in a mainstream phone.
Interestingly, the leak also mentions that a 10,000mAh version of the battery is already being tested in the lab. That could signal Redmi’s intention to push battery density further, likely using silicon-carbon technology, which allows for higher capacity in the same physical space.
Could Debut on the Redmi Turbo 5
Reports suggest this battery breakthrough could debut in the Redmi Turbo 5, a device rumored to launch between December and January. However, there’s still some uncertainty about the actual battery size.
A separate leak earlier this week claimed the Turbo 5 would feature a 7,500mAh battery instead. That’s still huge by current standards but short of the 9,000mAh claim. It’s possible the larger pack could be reserved for another variant — maybe a Turbo 5 Pro — or a completely different Redmi model altogether.
Given Redmi’s history of pushing limits in the midrange market, it wouldn’t be surprising if the company experimented with multiple prototypes before locking in final specs.
Dimensity 8500 to Power the Turbo 5
Under the hood, the Redmi Turbo 5 is expected to debut with MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 8500 chipset. Built on TSMC’s 4nm process, this processor reportedly includes an octa-core setup featuring Arm’s latest Cortex-A725 cores running up to 3.4GHz, along with a Mali-G720 GPU.
A More Powerful Pro Variant Could Follow
For users who want more raw power, Redmi might also launch a Turbo 5 Pro model. Rumors point to either the Dimensity 9500e or Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 powering this version.
The Dimensity 9500e, in particular, is expected to feature a Cortex-X925 prime core, an Immortalis-G925 GPU, and hardware-level AI acceleration — giving it a clear edge in both performance and on-device AI processing.
