Galaxy S26 Edge Reportedly Appears on Geekbench With New Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, Scores Higher Than Exynos 2600
Qualcomm’s next flagship mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, has shown up on Geekbench ahead of its official launch, giving an early look at its performance and the device it could debut in.

First Appearance Points to Galaxy S26 Edge
A Samsung phone with the model number SM-S947U appeared on Geekbench on August 11, 2025. Given that last year’s Galaxy S25 Edge carried the model code SM-S937B, this new listing is widely believed to be its successor, the Galaxy S26 Edge. The “U” suffix suggests it’s a US variant.

The test unit ran Android 16, likely with an early build of Samsung’s One UI 8.0, and had around 12GB of RAM. More importantly, it was powered by Qualcomm’s unreleased Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, possibly in the “for Galaxy” variant that Samsung sometimes uses in select markets.
Performance Scores and Core Details
In Geekbench 6.4, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 scored 3,393 in single-core and 11,515 in multi-core tests. That’s roughly a 9% improvement in single-core and a similar bump in multi-core compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, which typically scored around 3,125 and 9,932.

While the chipset is designed to hit a peak clock speed of 4.74GHz on its prime core, this test only ran it at 4.0GHz. Reports suggest this is common for pre-release hardware and could also be due to thermal limits in the slim Edge chassis. The chip’s six efficiency cores ran at 3.63GHz.
The CPU retains a 6+2 core layout and supports the new Scalable Matrix Extensions (SME) instruction set, which could help with AI and machine learning tasks.
How It Compares
Even at the lower clock speed, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 comfortably outperformed Samsung’s Exynos 2600, which scores around 2,155 (single-core) and 7,788 (multi-core). It’s also a modest step up from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite results of 3,100 and 9,905 (via Smartprix).
Some tipsters had hinted at a bigger jump, but given this wasn’t full-throttle performance, the final retail results could be higher.
What Comes Next
Qualcomm is set to officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 at its Snapdragon Summit, running from September 23 to 25. Xiaomi is expected to be the first to launch a phone with the new chip, potentially in late September with the Xiaomi 16.
