Sony Xperia 3 With Punch-Hole Display Leaked; Launch Expected In 2020
Sony Xperia 3 is the upcoming flagship smartphone from the Japanese firm which might be officially launched in the first quarter of 2020. Some leaked images of the Sony Xperia 3 have popped up on the Internet, revealing certain features of the smartphone. For one, it looks like the Sony Xperia 3 will feature a large punch-hole display.
Sony Xperia 3 Expected Features
The Sony Xperia 3 images highlight the unusually large punch-hole display. Speculators say the punch-hole is as large as a fisheye. Some of the earlier reports suggested that the Xperia 3 would be launched in two variants, codenamed Kona and Huracan. The main difference between them is 5G connectivity, where one would support it and the other wouldn't.
The Sony Xperia 3 is believed to feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor similar to its predecessors, Sony Xperia 1 and Xperia 5. The upcoming flagship smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. Reports say that the Xperia 3 with the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform is equipped with one 2.84GHz Cortex-A77, three 2.42GHz Cortex-A77 cores, and quad 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores.
Sony Xperia 3 Expected Launch
So far, no other details have surfaced about the Sony Xperia 3, like the camera details. The smartphone was first spotted through its firmware distribution server with SM8250, the codename for the Snapdragon 865. The Qualcomm SD 865 is expected to be announced at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019, in the first week of December, with 587MHz Adreno 650 graphics.
Sony has regularly been launching smartphones, both mid-range and flagship. However, the brand is not doing so well in the smartphone business, with stiff competition from other smartphone makers. Stats show that Sony has only 600,000 smartphones in the third quarter of 2019, where it had sold .6 million units last year. The upcoming Sony Xperia 3 is expected to be launched at the Mobile World Congress tech show in the first quarter of 2020.
