Vivo X Fold 6 Launch Timeline in India Revealed Ahead: Will it Rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8

Vivo could soon expand its foldable smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Vivo X Fold 6. The book-style foldable recently made its debut in China, and a new leak now suggests the handset will arrive in the Indian market later this year.

If the report turns out to be accurate, the Vivo X Fold 6 will become the company's third foldable smartphone to launch in India, following the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and the Vivo X Fold 5. The upcoming flagship is expected to bring notable upgrades, including a larger battery, flagship MediaTek chipset, and Zeiss-backed cameras.

Vivo X Fold 6 India Launch and Availability

According to tipster Sanju Choudhary, the Vivo X Fold 6 is expected to launch in India in October. The tipster also claims Vivo will introduce another X-series smartphone alongside the foldable, although the identity of the second device remains unknown. Vivo has not officially confirmed the India launch timeline.

The tipster further suggests that the Vivo X Fold 6 will be priced above Rs 1.5 lakh in India. While the smartphone starts at CNY 7,999 (roughly Rs 1.11 lakh) in China, Indian pricing is expected to be higher due to taxes and import duties. Notably, Vivo launched the X Fold 5 in India at Rs 1,49,999, making the rumoured pricing for its successor appear plausible.

Vivo X Fold 6 Competition

Once launched, the Vivo X Fold 6 will compete in India's ultra-premium foldable smartphone segment. Its primary rival will be the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (Review), which starts at Rs 1,74,999. It will also face competition from Motorola's premium foldable offering, the Razr Fold. Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to make its debut in India sometime this month.

Vivo's biggest advantage could be its focus on battery life and camera hardware. The X Fold 6 packs a significantly larger battery than most of its rivals, while also offering flagship imaging capabilities through its Zeiss-tuned camera system. However, buyers considering a premium foldable are likely to compare software experience, ecosystem features, and festive season pricing before making a purchase.

Vivo X Fold 6 Specifications

The Vivo X Fold 6 is headlined by a massive 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, making it one of the largest batteries available on a foldable smartphone. Despite the larger battery, the handset measures just 4.4mm when unfolded and weighs 228 grams. It supports 80W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging.

The foldable features an 8.02-inch Samsung M14 LTPO AMOLED inner display alongside a 6.51-inch LTPO AMOLED cover display. Both panels offer a 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth viewing experience. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

For photography, the Vivo X Fold 6 is equipped with a Zeiss-backed triple rear camera setup comprising a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The device also includes dual 20-megapixel selfie cameras, one embedded in the cover display and another on the inner folding screen, for selfies and video calls.
