Vivo X500 Series Launch Date Set for September 21: Check Expected Specifications and Imaging Hardware

Vivo is gearing up to unveil its flagship X500 series in China next week. The line-up will likely include the Vivo X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max. The Vivo X500 series will also be among the first phones to adopt the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset.

However, the teasers suggest Vivo will retain the large circular rear camera module seen on earlier X-series phones and will primarily focus on imaging. Vivo is positioning the X500 series as a creator-focused upgrade, with new sensors, stronger stabilisation and advanced video recording formats aimed at users who shoot heavily on smartphones.

Vivo X500 Series Launch Date

The Vivo X500 series launch date in China is set for September 21, 2026. Following its launch, the Vivo X500 series could make its way to India in October or early November. Moreover, you can also expect major price hikes for the upcoming X500 series.

Vivo X500 Series Camera Upgrades

The Vivo X500 series is expected to debut with the new Blueprint 900 image sensor. The lineup will also bring CIPA 7.0-standard optical image stabilisation on both the main camera and the periscope telephoto camera. That is a notable addition, as telephoto cameras often struggle more with shake at longer focal lengths.

Vivo is also adding an upgraded AI photography assistant. The feature is expected to help with scene processing, camera suggestions and image optimisation. While the company has not detailed all AI functions yet, the focus appears to be on improving consistency across difficult lighting conditions and complex shooting scenes.

For the standard Vivo X500, the expected camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main camera using Sony's 1/1.28-inch LYTIA-828 sensor. It may be paired with a Sony LYTIA-610 telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The standard model is also listed with CIPA 7.0 stabilisation support.

Vivo X500 Pro Max Model May Bring 200MP Telephoto Camera

The Vivo X500 Pro Max is tipped to be the most powerful model in the series. It is expected to feature a 6.83-inch BOE Q11 2K display and MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, which is said to be based on a 2nm process. The phone may also get advanced thermal and imaging processing improvements.

On the camera side, the X500 Pro Max is expected to include a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch main sensor, a 200-megapixel HP0 telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. It is also said to support 3-degree wide-angle gimbal stabilisation, which could help improve handheld video and low-light photos.

Vivo X500 Series Launch Date Set for September 21

The Vivo X500 Pro is also expected to use a Sony LYTIA-610 telephoto camera and CIPA 7.0-standard stabilisation. However, Vivo has not yet confirmed the full camera, display or chipset details for this model. More clarity should arrive at the September 21 launch event.

Video Features Aimed at Mobile Creators

Vivo is also focusing heavily on video capture. The X500 series is claimed to support up to 17EV dynamic range, 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and ACES colour workflow integration. These features are usually aimed at creators who need more flexible footage for editing and colour grading.

The company has also linked the series to an upcoming 2nm MediaTek Dimensity platform. The chipset is expected to enable hardware-level Log processing, including 4K video recording at 120fps in 10-bit Log. vivo has also mentioned native 8K Live direct output, with platform-level support for 8K streaming uploads.

Vivo X500 Series Other Features

The X500 Pro Max is expected to feature a 6.83-inch BOE Q11 2K display and MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset. Vivo has not yet confirmed full pricing, India availability, storage variants or the complete specifications for each model. Those details are expected at the September 21 launch event.

For buyers, the X500 series will be worth watching mainly for its camera execution. The specifications suggest a strong creator-focused push, but real-world image processing, thermals, battery life and pricing will decide how competitive the phones are against other premium Android flagships.
