Xiaomi Confirms Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G: SD4 Gen1 SoC, 12GB RAM, 256GB Storage Confirmed

Xiaomi has confirmed yet another Android smartphone under the Redmi Note 12 series. The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G is a mid-range Android smartphone and could be one of the most affordable 5G-enabled devices.

The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G is the ninth Android smartphone under the Redmi Note 12 series. Xiaomi has launched Redmi Note 12 4G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition, and Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition but only a few of these models have landed in India. The brand recently launched the Redmi Note 12 Turbo 5G as well.

Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G Key Specifications Confirmed

The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G is a mid-range smartphone. However, it could be an entry-level device in the midrange category with support for 5G networks.

Xiaomi has started teasing the Note 12R Pro 5G on Weibo. The Chinese tech giant has confirmed the smartphone has a flat frame design with a curved back panel.

The single promotional poster announcing the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G reveals the smartphone has a dual camera on the back which sits inside a rectangular camera island. There are two circular cutouts on the back.

There is also an LED flash module next to the sensors. The text on the camera module confirms the primary camera has a 48MP resolution. The Redmi branding on the back is accompanied by 5G which assures this smartphone will support 5G networks.

Xiaomi has also revealed a few more key specifications about the phone. As the poster indicates, the smartphone will launch in three color options: Gold, Black, and White. Xiaomi should use some fancy names to denote these colors.

The majority of Redmi smartphones launched recently have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that's embedded inside the power button. The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G seems to have the same arrangement.

The Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G poster confirms the smartphone has an OLED display, which should have a 120Hz refresh rate just like other Redmi Note 12 series smartphones.

Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC, which is the same chipset that's embedded inside the Redmi Note 12 5G in India.

The Redmi smartphone will ship with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Although Xiaomi hasn't confirmed yet, it is possible the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G may have other variants with varying RAM and storage space.

Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G Launch, Availability

Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G in China on April 29. The company hasn't confirmed if or when the smartphone will launch outside China.

Based on the teased specifications, the Redmi Note 12R Pro 5G could be positioned between the Note 12 Pro 4G and the Note 12 Pro 5G. Xiaomi hasn't indicated the final pricing of the smartphone yet.
