Xiaomi Mi 6X could be unveiled on April 25

Xiaomi is expected to unveil a few smartphones such as the flagship Mi 7, Mi 6X aka Mi A2, Mi Max 3 and Mi Note 4. In the meantime, a recent post on the company's official Weibo account has confirmed that it will host a press conference on April 25. Also, it has been revealed that a new smartphone will be announced.

While the invite revealed by Xiaomi does not mention the name of the upcoming smartphone, the rumors regarding the Mi 6X are rife suggesting that this smartphone could be announced. Recently, the Mi 6X was certified by the Chinese regulatory body TENAA tipping its imminent launch. So, we can expect the device to be unveiled on April 25.

Rumored specifications

For now, the details regarding the smartphone are scarce for now. However, the TENAA listing has revealed a lot of specifications. Going by the same, the Xiaomi Mi 6X is believed to flaunt a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under its hood, the smartphone is likely to make use of a 2.2GHz octa-core processor. There are conflicting rumors that it could be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC or Snapdragon 630 SoC or Snapdragon 660 SoC.

Whatever be the processor, it is said to be coupled with either 4GB of RAM and 64GB of default storage space and 6GB of RAM and 128GB of default storage space. The imaging aspects are said to include a 20MP Sony IMX376 selfie camera at the front and a dual-camera module comprising of a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor and a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor at the rear.

The battery capacity of the Mi 6X is said to be 2910mAh. This battery might arrive with fast charging from Qualcomm. The software said to be the latest version of MIUI based on Android 8.1 Oreo. From a recent leak, the Mi A2 moniker spotted on the Xiaomi India official website is believed to be the international variant of the Mi 6X.

Could be the Mi A2

Last year, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 5X in China and launched it as the Mi A1 with Android One in the other markets outside of China. The Mi A1 with dual cameras was well received in India at a price point of Rs. 14,999. We can expect the Mi A2 to also live up to Xiaomi's fame when it is announced as it is speculated to feature impressive specifications detailed above.
