Nokia Launches Lumia 2520 Tablet With 10 Inch Screen And Windows RT

Earlier today, Nokia launched its first tablet. Dubbed as the Lumia 2520, this sleek new slate runs Windows RT, an operating system which until now was restricted only to tablets like Microsoft's Surface 2.

The tablet has a gorgeous 10.1-inch IPS LCD panel that runs at 1080p and is swathed in Corning's Gorilla Glass 2. The device offers crisp visuals and good contrast. Nokia says that since the Lumia 2520's screen has excellent brightness and super-low reflectiveness, allowing it to offer "best-in class readability".

For imaging, an area where Nokia is ahead of the competition, the Lumia 2520 uses a 2MP front-facing cam for video chatting, as well as a 6.7MP f/1.9 camera on the back. The rear camera is one of the best units that we've seen used in a tablet so far. It is worth noting that the module is the same one as that was used in the Lumia 720.

For processing, it uses a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU along with 2GB RAM and 32 GB of Internal storage. The tablet has a quick charging feature that lets its 800mAh battery go from drained to 50 percent charge in just 40 minutes.

The Lumia 2520 will work with a Surface-style add on called as the Power Keyboard, which gives the tablet two extra USB ports and up to five more hours of battery life (in addition to its 11hour battery life).

The tablet will retail for $499 (Rs.30,000 aprox) in the US and there is no word on availability for India.
