Apple WWDC 2023: All Hardware Announcements Expected

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2023) is scheduled to begin today. The annual event, usually reserved for developers, is being altered this year to include hardware announcements.

Apple has always been extremely secretive about its products and services until it launches them. However, the WWDC is often considered a sneak preview of the upcoming Apple products and services. Let's look at the new hardware that Apple could announce, and perhaps even launch, at this year's event, called the WWDC23.

Apple WWDC 2023: All Hardware Announcements Expected

Apple Reality Pro Mixed Reality Headset Powered But xrOS

Among all the new hardware that Apple may announce at WWDC23 the company's Mixed Reality headset is generating quite the hype. Apple is expected to announce its long-awaited Virtual and Augmented reality headset at the WWDC23.

Apple may call it 'Reality Pro', and the AR/VR Reality Pro headset would be powered by Apple's xrOS operating system that's designed and optimized for gaming and productivity.

Powered by an SoC similar to Apple's M2 chipset, it may feature as many as a dozen cameras to detect body movements and even read facial expressions.

New MacBook Air Laptops And Desktops With Apple M2 Chipset

Apple is rumored to announce its largest-ever MacBook Air, which may feature a 15-inch screen. It could pack the same M2 chipset with an 8-Core or 10-Core CPU option.

Some reports suggest Apple is testing two new Mac desktops: Mac 14,13 and Mac 14,14. They are expected to feature M2 Ultra and M2 Max chips. These may be branded as the Mac Pro editions.

The same M2 Ultra and M2 Max chips could also be embedded in refreshed Mac Studio. Apple, however, isn't expected to confirm the timeline for its M3 chipset or the products that will be the first to be powered by this next generation of the in-house developed SoC.

Apple could also announce a 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air as well as a 24-inch iMac desktop computer with refreshed hardware.

The Apple WWDC conference is majorly for developers where it reveals software features and new platforms that will work on Apple devices such as iPhones, MacBook laptops, iPad, and others, via iOS, macOS, and iPadOS respectively. In other words, the event is primarily intended for software and people that develop and write code.

This year, Apple is mixing things up. The developer-focused WWDC should have some new hardware announcements.

It appears Apple has adopted Google's strategy. At the Google I/O 2023 event, the search giant launched its first foldable smartphone, dubbed the Pixel Fold.
