Idea offers 2GB data per day for 28 days at Rs. 249
This new tariff plan from Idea Cellular lacks just one aspect in comparison to the Rs. 249 Airtel plan.
To stiffen the tariff war further, Idea Cellular has come up with a new prepaid tariff plan. This new plan priced at Rs. 249 offers 2GB of 3G or 4G daily data, unlimited voice calls (local, STD and national roaming) and free SMS. Idea's Rs. 249 tariff plan comes with a validity of 28 days. So, you will get 56GB of 3G or 4G data on the whole. This plan is meant to compete with the new Rs. 249 prepaid plan from Airtel, which also offers 2GB data per day.
The Airtel plan offers unlimited voice calls without any daily or weekly FUP associated with it. On the other hand, the tariff plan from Idea comes with a FUP of 250 minutes of voice calls per day and 1,000 minutes of voice calls per week. This pack is available for select users right now and we can expect a wider rollout to happen in the coming days.
Rs. 357 prepaid plan
Idea Cellular also offers a Rs. 357 prepaid plan offering similar benefits as the new Rs. 249 tariff plan. This new plan is listed in the Idea portal but as it is more expensive, we can expect it to be canceled soon on the wider rollout of the Rs. 249 plan.
Idea's Rs. 998 tariff plan
In addition to these, for the long-term users, Idea Cellular announced a tariff plan costing Rs. 998. This plan offers a whopping 5GB of 3G or 4G data per day for a period of 35 days. The other benefits offered by this plan include unlimited voice calling with a limit of 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week and 100 SMS per day.
Comparison with Jio and Airtel plans
It looks like Idea Cellular has announced the new Rs. 249 prepaid plan in order to compete with similar plans from Airtel and Reliance Jio. Airtel's Rs. 249 plan offers similar benefits as seen above. When it comes to Jio, the operator offers similar benefits for a relatively lower price of Rs. 198. Get to know the best prepaid tariff plans under Rs. 300. The downside of the Idea Cellular tariff plans is that there is a limit on the daily and weekly calling limits while the rival plans from Reliance Jio and Airtel provide true unlimited voice calling benefits without any FUP.
