Get Ready for Immersive Meetings as Zoom Is Coming to the Vision Pro Headset

As Apple gears up for the release of its Vision Pro headset on February 2, Zoom is set to make waves with the launch of its dedicated app designed to complement Apple's latest XR/VR device.

The Zoom app, debuting alongside the Vision Pro, promises to revolutionize video calls by introducing immersive features that redefine the way users interact during virtual meetings.

Zoom Is Coming to the Vision Pro Headset: Here’s What That Means

Personas and Spatial Zoom

Zoom's Vision Pro app capitalizes on the headset's capabilities, introducing innovative features like "Personas" and "Spatial Zoom." With Personas, Apple Vision Pro users can leverage a digital avatar based on their face scans, allowing call participants to see their facial expressions and hand movements as if the user is not wearing a headset-an experience reminiscent of Apple's FaceTime app for the Vision Pro.

The Spatial Zoom feature takes the video conferencing experience to a new level by allowing users to scale the call to the most appropriate size. Participants can enlarge the call, creating a sense of presence as if they were in the same room, or make it smaller to suit their workspace setup.

Real-World Pinning and 3D Object Sharing

Zoom has exciting plans for the future, with upcoming features set to enhance the video calling experience even further. In the spring, the app will introduce "real-world pinning," allowing Vision Pro users to pin up to five Zoom meeting participants in their physical space, removing backgrounds for a more immersive feel. Additionally, the app will support 3D object sharing, enabling users to share and experience 3D files in their surrounding environment.

Streaming Apps on Vision Pro

While Apple has confirmed the inclusion of native Vision Pro apps for streaming services like Disney Plus, Max, Paramount Plus, and Peacock, some major players are missing from the lineup. Notably, Netflix and YouTube will not have Vision Pro apps at launch, requiring users to access these services through a web browser for a potentially less immersive experience.

Availability

The Zoom app for Apple Vision Pro is set to be available for download from the App Store starting February 2, aligning with the headset's launch date.
