Taiwanese smartphone maker, HTC has finally launched today smartphones for the Indian market including the Desire 616 and One E8. Priced at Rs. 16,900 and Rs. 34,900 respectively, HTC Desire 616 will go on sale next week and HTC One E8 will be available in the market by July end 2014.
As per the company press release, the Desire 616 will be offered in Dark Grey and Pearl White color variants, while the One E8 comes in Electric Crimson, Polar White, Misty Gray and Maldives Blue color variant.
Besides, the premium and mid-ranger smartphones, HTC has also unveiled some accessories, which includes the Dot View Case for the One E8 new smartphone.
The latest smartphone case, features a display notifications and interactions on a colorful dot-matrix effect that makes every update a visual statement. Moreover, in combination with the motion launch, you can check the latest information and receive calls without uncovering the case.
After HTC One M8, the Desire 816 and Desire 210 were launched in India to cater to the needs of the mid-range and low-end smartphone buyers. The latest two smartphones launched today, also come in the same series, however, with better specs.
HTC Desire 616: Key Specifications
Specs wise, HTC Desire 616 comes with a 5-inch 720p display, 1.4GHz octa-core CPU (ARM Cortex A7 octa-core architecture) coupled with 1GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android OS, v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) layered with HTC Sense 5.5 UI. Further, the Desire 616 has an 8-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter as well.
Connectivity options include: Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G. It houses 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot. It is a Dual SIM handset which is powered by a 2,000mAh battery.
HTC One E8: Key Specifications
On the other hand, the HTC One E8 is a little superior in terms of specificatiions. It comes with a 5-Inch Super LCD3 display churning out the resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 441 ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU coupled with 2 GB RAM, also it runs on Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat) with the company's proprietary HTC Sense 6 UI.
The smartphone doesn't feature an Ultrapixel camera but a regular 13 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash along with a 5MP front facing shooter. Further, it houses 4GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via MicroSD card. Other specs include: Dual SIM, GPRS, USB, WiFi, 3G and DLNA support and a non-removable Li-Po 2600 mAh battery.
Since, there are number of devices that are currently being launched in India, the newbies HTC Desire 616 and One E8 might have to plan a strong marketing and price strategy to kill the competition.
This will be very important for HTC as, the Xiaomi is also entering India next week, with its flagship smartphone Mi3. It will be comparatively very affordable and will also come with same specifications. Hence Xiaomi will for sure stand in the way of HTC newest range and many other premium flagships Because of its elite selection of specifications and affordable pricing strategy.
