Rumors surrounding the successor of the Xperia Z2 have been circulating in the webosphere for a long time now and the device has been previously seen in leaks but not in its full glory. Moreover, the model numbers and variants the handset is going to have, have also been spotted online a week back.
Today, a leak pertaining to the same Xperia Z3 smartphone has come up to excite most of the Sony fans. This is the probably, the first image of the device that has surfaced online, which you can see above.
Normally, Sony follows a pattern of launching at least one flagship device in every 6 months, so the latest leak could possibly mean that the Z3 is close to its launch date. The alleged photograph shows off both the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. In addition, it would appear that the Xperia Z3 will have a metal frame.
If the variants are to be mentioned, we are not absolutely clear but, according to the listing on TUV Rheinland, Sony is also preparing a new device for release, with model numbers PM-0800-BV (D6603), PM-0804-BV (D6643), PM-0801-BV (D6616), PM-0806-BV (D6653), PM-0802-BV, PM-0803-BV, and PM-0807-BV attached to it.
And since the model numbers such as D6603 and D6653 are already associated with a Xperia Z2 successor, it could be possible that other model numbers in the list above could be the carrier-based or market-based versions of the Xperia Z3 smartphone.
Previously the Xperia Z3 was said to come with Snapdragon 805, but rumors later suggested that Sony had vouched against it. Thus, we are not sure what hardware Sony is opting for the Xperia Z3 but speculations are that it will use Snapdragon 801 SoC in both for the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact. While the latest 64-bit Snapdragon 810 might be kept for Sony Xperia Z4 which will possibly launch later this year or early next year.
Other rumored specs include: 5.3-inch Quad HD resolution, 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, and a 20.7-megapixel or higher camera.
