Google Phone app will now send spam calls to voicemail automatically

Google making changes to its Phone app for the better.

Google is taking necessary steps to help its users ignore spam calls. Google is working on a feature that will automatically send spam calls to voicemail, reports 9to5Google. The Google Phone app already has the ability to flag spam numbers and turns the screen red when one comes in, but the new feature will take it to a next level, sending these calls directly to voicemail without even bothering the users.

For this, the company will have to accurately identify and filter the spam calls, which is a complex battle going on between the spammers and the software company. It isn't a huge change, but would still be a big improvement. The new feature is expected to be rolled out worldwide in the coming weeks in company's proprietary phone app for Android.

If you are someone who uses Pixel, Nexus or an Android One smartphone, you already have the feature on your device. Users with other phones can go to the Play Store and download the app manually.

Besides, Google is also tipped to be working on the next iteration of its smart Google Glass. The company has filed for a patent that shows how the wiring will be integrated into a pair of normal glasses. If you see the images and text combined in the patent, the company is seeking ways to better combine the tech within the product for a more usual look. It seems Google doesn't want to show the 'smart' part inside the glasses. The patent suggests that the wires will run through the frame of the glasses, and molding the frames to accommodate the extra wiring.

What's intriguing is that the first image does not contain a graphical display for the glasses, which means one pair of glasses will be primarily for audio purposes. The second image, however, includes a graphical display along with an onboard computer that would overlay data on to their surroundings.

Apart from the microphone, earpieces, and the graphical interface, the patent mentions an LED on the inside of the glass. Or these can be lasers that would project an image directly onto user's eyeball. Let's hope Google makes the new glasses even more useful and trendy compared to its previous iteration.
