This timing aims to set the stage for the holiday season and introduce four new Pixel models, including the first foldable phone available in India.

A New Era for Pixel Phones

The Pixel 9 series signifies a significant shift from the Pixel 8 lineup, introducing four distinct models: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Higher-end models will integrate Google's AI, Gemini, enhancing overall functionality. Notably, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will debut in India, marking Google's first foldable device in the country.

Google Pixel 9 Series Overview

  • Pixel 9: This entry-level model features a 6.3-inch display with a dual-camera system, including a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens. It is designed to be compact and affordable.
  • Pixel 9 Pro: Slightly more advanced, this model also has a 6.3-inch screen but comes with a triple-camera setup. It offers enhanced performance and additional features compared to the Pixel 9.
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL: The Pixel 9 Pro XL will be the largest model with a 6.8-inch display. It shares specifications with the Pixel 9 Pro but includes a larger battery to support its bigger screen.
  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold: As Google's foray into foldable technology, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will feature an 8-inch main display and a 6.3-inch cover screen. Its camera setup includes a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto lens.

Display and Camera Specifications

All Pixel 9 models will feature a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 9 will have an FHD+ "Actua" screen, while the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will come with QHD+ "Super Actua" screens, which may offer higher brightness. The camera setups will vary, with the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro having different combinations of wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will feature a unique camera island.

Processor and Performance

Each Pixel 9 model will be powered by Google's Tensor G4 chip, based on the Exynos 2400 architecture. The Pixel 9 is expected to include 8 GB of RAM, whereas the Pro models may offer up to 16 GB of RAM to support new AI features. All devices are expected to run on Android 15 out of the box.

Additional Announcements - Pixel Watch 3 & Pixel Buds Pro 2

In addition to the smartphones, Google is expected to unveil new wearables, including the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. The Pixel Watch 3 is rumored to come in two sizes and offer improvements in display and battery life.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 may feature enhanced sound quality and new color options. Google's AI assistant, Gemini, will also receive updates, with new features such as enhanced smart home controls and content recall capabilities.
