From Premium Ultrabooks to RTX Gaming Powerhouses: Here are the Top 5 Laptops We’ve Tested in 2026
Despite rising RAM and storage costs pushing laptop prices higher in 2026, manufacturers haven't slowed down on innovation. This year has brought a wave of impressive launches from brands like ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, and HP, with newer processors, more capable GPUs, better displays, and longer battery life redefining what buyers can expect across different price segments.
From ultra-portable productivity machines to gaming powerhouses, we've tested some of the year's biggest releases. Here are the five best laptops we've reviewed in 2026 so far.

Alienware 18 Area-51
- Display: 18-inch WQXGA (2560 × 1600) IPS, 120Hz
- Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU
- Memory: 64GB DDR5 RAM
- Storage: 2TB PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSD
The Alienware 18 Area-51 is the most powerful laptop we've tested in 2026 and one that refuses to compromise. Instead of chasing a slim profile, Dell has built a desktop replacement that prioritises raw performance above everything else. Equipped with Intel's Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 2TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD, it effortlessly handles 4K video editing, AI workloads, 3D rendering, and the latest AAA games.
During our testing, modern titles consistently delivered exceptionally high frame rates, while the advanced Cryo-Tech cooling system kept temperatures under control even during extended gaming sessions. The massive 18-inch WQXGA display is another standout feature. Its 300Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, G-Sync support, and 500-nit brightness make it equally capable for competitive gaming and professional creative work.

Add in an excellent keyboard, generous connectivity with Thunderbolt 5, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and multiple USB-A ports, and the Area-51 becomes far more than a gaming laptop. Yes, it's enormous, expensive, and battery life isn't its strongest suit, but if ultimate performance is your priority, few laptops come close to what the Alienware 18 Area-51 delivers.
Dell XPS 14 (2026)
- Display: 14-inch 2.8K OLED Touchscreen (120Hz)
- Processor: Intel Core Ultra X7 358H (Panther Lake)
- Graphics: Intel Arc B390 integrated GPU
- Memory: 32GB LPDDR5X RAM (9600MT/s)
- Storage: 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD
The Dell XPS 14 continues to set the benchmark for premium Windows laptops, combining elegant design with some of the best hardware available in 2026. Its CNC-machined aluminium chassis feels exceptionally premium, while the stunning 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen is easily one of the best displays we've tested this year.
With vibrant colours, deep contrast, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and touch support, it's equally suited for creative work, media consumption, and everyday productivity. Under the hood, Intel's latest Core Ultra X7 358H (Panther Lake) processor, paired with 32GB LPDDR5X RAM, delivers outstanding performance for multitasking, photo editing, video editing, and demanding professional workloads without breaking a sweat.

Beyond raw performance, the XPS 14 excels as an everyday work machine. The spacious glass trackpad, comfortable keyboard, quiet thermal management, and excellent battery life make it a pleasure to use for extended periods. Although the lack of USB-A and HDMI ports means carrying adapters, and the lid is prone to fingerprints, these are relatively minor compromises in an otherwise polished package.
If you're looking for one of the finest Windows laptops for professionals and creators, the Dell XPS 14 offers an exceptional blend of performance, portability, display quality, and premium craftsmanship.
Lenovo Legion 7i (2026)
- Display: 16-inch WQXGA (2560 × 1600) 240Hz OLED
- Colour Gamut: 100% DCI-P3, Dolby Vision, DisplayHDR True Black 1000
- Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU (8GB GDDR7)
- Memory: 32GB DDR5-6400 RAM
- Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
The Lenovo Legion 7i strikes an excellent balance between performance, portability, and premium design, making it one of the most versatile gaming laptops we've tested in 2026. Unlike many bulky gaming machines, the Legion 7i packs Intel's Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU into a sleek aluminium chassis that weighs under 2kg. It handles modern AAA games with ease while offering enough CPU and GPU horsepower for video editing, streaming, 3D rendering, and other demanding creative workloads.
The standout feature is its gorgeous 16-inch WQXGA OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, delivering an exceptional experience whether you're gaming, editing photos, or watching HDR content. What makes the Legion 7i special is how well-rounded it feels. It offers a comfortable keyboard, a responsive trackpad, modern connectivity including Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7, an SD card reader, and a 5MP IR webcam, making it just as capable in the office as it is in a gaming setup.

Thermals remain well controlled, fan noise is reasonable for an HX-class gaming laptop, and battery life is respectable for the hardware on offer. While the lack of Ethernet and average speakers leave room for improvement, the Legion 7i delivers one of the best all-round premium gaming experiences available today.
HP OmniBook 5
- Display: 14-inch 2K (1920 × 1200) OLED touchscreen
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus (8-core)
- Graphics: Qualcomm Adreno GPU
- Memory: 16GB LPDDR5x RAM
- Storage: 512GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD
The HP OmniBook 5 proves that a premium laptop doesn't need flashy RGB lighting or an ultra-thin metal chassis to stand out. Instead, HP has focused on the fundamentals, delivering a dependable productivity machine with an excellent OLED display, solid battery life, and one of the best port selections in its class. The 14-inch 2K OLED panel produces vibrant colours and deep blacks, making it equally suitable for work, entertainment, and light creative tasks.
While the model we reviewed used the powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor, my pick is undoubtedly the Snapdragon X version of this machine that retails for less than Rs 70,000 with certain offers. While not as powerful as its Intel counterpart, the Snapdragon version offers all the best features at less than half the price.

It handled everyday multitasking with ease, whether you're juggling multiple browser tabs, editing documents, or attending video meetings. The OmniBook 5 also shines in day-to-day usability. It offers a comfortable keyboard, a large and responsive trackpad, all-day battery life, and a generous selection of ports that eliminates the need for dongles.
While its plastic construction may not feel as premium as some rivals and the 60Hz display feels dated, I managed to snag it for just under Rs 60,000, making it excellent value for money in today's market. For students, working professionals, and anyone seeking a practical everyday laptop, the HP OmniBook 5 is a well-rounded choice that prioritises function over unnecessary flair.

The ASUS ROG Flow Z13 Kojima Edition is unlike any other gaming machine we've tested in 2026. More than just a limited-edition product, it combines a striking collector's design inspired by Kojima Productions with cutting-edge hardware in a surprisingly compact tablet form factor.
Built around AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory, the Flow Z13 delivers desktop-class performance for AI workloads, content creation, multitasking, and modern gaming. Its Radeon 8060S integrated graphics also prove that integrated GPUs have come a long way, delivering impressive gaming performance without relying on a dedicated graphics card.

The 13.4-inch QHD+ touchscreen with a 180Hz refresh rate is bright, colour accurate, and incredibly responsive, while the detachable keyboard and built-in kickstand make the device equally comfortable for work and entertainment. ASUS has also equipped it with a robust cooling system, fast USB4 connectivity, and excellent battery life for a device this powerful.
Although the IPS display lacks OLED contrast and the premium price limits its appeal, the ROG Flow Z13 Kojima Edition stands out as one of the most innovative and uniquely designed Windows devices of the year, successfully blending portability, AI performance, gaming capabilities, and collectible design.
