Celkon Signature Two A500 Hands On and First Look: A Newcomer That's Made For Newcomers
- Great Build
- Latest Android KitKat
- Powerful processor
- Camera not upto mark
- front facing camera also not good
Celkon's entry into the Indian smartphone market is comparatively new. Compared to the likes of Micromax and Karbonn, Celkon is still to grow to the potential that it expects. However, with regular handsets coming out of the company, the potential shouldn't be hard to reach.
Celkon is currently expanding its budget smartphone offering in India and has launched the Signature Two A500, priced at Rs. 5,999. The company has also announced that the smartphone will be exclusively available on Flipkart and will come with a free flip cover bundled with it.
The new Celkon handset was revealed recently with Murali Retineni, Executive Director, Celkon Mobiles, commenting: "At Celkon, our endeavour is to bring out the best each time we launch an offering. We look forward to the success of this latest model in Signature series."
"The Signature Two A500 will certainly be a unique and engaging device for all. We are pleased to have this partnership with Flipkart to enable reaching out to the entire country with this exciting new model."
But while the company seems quite excited with the prospect of the new handset in the market, how exactly will it chart out with such great competition biting at its heels?
We recently spent some time (although brief) with the new Celkon Signature Two A500 after its lauch event. And here's our hands on review for the device.
Celkon Signature Two A500 Hands On and Review: Form Factor and Operating System
The Signature Two A500, in terms of look and feel, isn't that bad an experience. While we are not saying that it's the best in its segment, but on an overall it has quite the premium feel to it.
In fact, if we are to compare the Celkon Signature Two A500 with the other recently launched Celkon Vogue Q455, you will see that both the devices have a similar kind of built and feel. Both the devices have a rubberish matte finish although we feel the one in the A500 is also sporting textures.
Apart from that, the rear back panel for the A500 is a bit thicker that that of the Q455 while the front panel with all its capacitive buttons has a brighter glow. Even at the lowest brightest setting, the device will light up as if it's on the highest level of brightness.
On a whole, as far as specs and numbers are concerned, the A500 handset from Celkon comes with a 5-inch (480x854 pixels) display, with dimensions of 141.30 x 72.6 x 10.2mm and weighs in at 147g. It has 480 x 854 pixels with 196 ppi pixel density.
In terms of the OS that's running inside the device, the Celkon A500 comes running the latest Android KitKat under its hoods. That means you won't have to worry about running a dated operating system and get all the goodness of KitKat.
