How To Make Jio Video Calls On iPhones For Free?

Jio is one of the few telcos that offer free native video calling at HD resolution. Last night, when I was trying to make a video call on the iPhone 11, I found out that one cannot make a video call natively on an iPhone. Here is a workaround on how to make a free video call from Jio network on an iPhone.

This process should work with almost all iPhones running on iOS 9.1 or the later version of iOS. Do note that, the app needs access to contacts, microphone, camera, and mobile data to initiate a video call. If you initiate a video call from the native caller app on iOS, it takes to FaceTime and it only works if the other party also owns an iPhone.

Steps To Make Video Call On An iPhone With Jio SIM Card

• Download Jio4GVoice app from the App Store (Download Link)
• The app is around 120MB, so make sure to connect the device to a high-speed Wi-Fi network for a quick download experience.
• Once downloaded, open the app and give access for the aforementioned features
• Select a Jio number from the saved contacts and initiate a video call
• For both local and national video calls, Jio does not charge anything

There is also a menu button on the top right side of the app that shows the users who have installed the Jio4GVoice app in your contact. Besides video calls, the app can also be used to make voice calls as well. The app also has a built-in messenger than can be used to chat with fellow Jio4GVoice app users.

There Is One Drawback

The biggest drawback that the Jio4GVoice app has is the overall UI. It looks like the company has not updated the app to the latest iPhone form factor. There are big black bars on the top and bottom portion of the phone that looks quite weird. I hope, Jio will fix this issue with a software update in the future.
