OriginOS 7 Based on Android 17 Announced for Vivo & iQOO Devices: Features, AI Tools and India Preview Details
Vivo has officially announced OriginOS 7, its next major software update, bringing a redesigned interface, smoother animations, deeper AI integration, improved battery management and expanded cross-device features. Based on Android 17, the update introduces system-level AI tools that work across screenshots, photos, files, notes, calendars and recordings.
For Indian users, Vivo has also announced the OriginOS 7 Preview Program for the Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15. Registrations will open from September 16 to September 20, 2026, with 500 slots available for each device.

OriginOS 7 Features: New Design and Smoother Animations
OriginOS 7 introduces a new visual language built around what Vivo calls a light-and-shadow visual system. The interface dynamically responds to touch, movement and time of day, with changes to brightness, colour, depth and animations.
The update also introduces a dynamic translucent material with three levels of interface texture. The home screen can adapt its appearance throughout the day, with brighter visuals during daytime and softer, darker elements at night.
Vivo is adding several new personalisation options, including Liquid Theme, Q-bounce and natural water-wave effects. The Atomic sticker library allows users to combine stickers and create dynamic stickers using AI.
There is also an AI Cute Pet Theme, which can create interactive themes from pet photos, while the Flash Card Theme uses the phone's gyroscope to change lighting and shadows based on how the device is held.
Atomic Animation 7.0 and Blue River Smooth Engine
Atomic Animation 7.0 is another major highlight of OriginOS 7. It allows interface elements to deform, merge, separate and rebound during actions such as tapping, swiping and dragging.
The update also introduces Atomic Workbench, which offers different layouts for multitasking. Users can run apps side by side or keep a primary task on screen while viewing supporting information.
Vivo's new Blue River Smooth Engine works at the system level to improve rendering, app launches, page transitions and memory management. The company claims up to 14% higher rendering efficiency, 19% faster page switching, 12% faster app launches and 60% faster memory recycling.
The company also says its six-year anti-ageing test recorded only 5.08% fluidity degradation. Storage Compression 2.0 can reportedly free up to 25GB on a 256GB device.
OriginOS 7 AI Features Powered by Blue Heart Small V
AI is deeply integrated into OriginOS 7 through Blue Heart Small V, Vivo's AI assistant. A new Pro Mode allows the assistant to remember user preferences and complete multi-step tasks.
Small V can assist with travel planning, job hunting, personal tasks, system controls and dynamic widgets. It can also customise resumes for specific job openings and help users prepare for interviews.
Other AI tools include Small V Photo QA, which can identify objects, translate content, answer questions and solve problems from images.
The more advanced Small V Video QA can understand live video and answer questions about objects, locations and everyday scenes.
AI Tools Across Photos, Files, Notes and Calendar
OriginOS 7 extends AI beyond the assistant and into several system apps.
AI Screenshot Direct Access can identify information such as voucher codes, movie tickets and pickup codes from screenshots and turn them into easily accessible cards. Gallery Quick Clean can identify similar images and recommend photos for deletion, while AI Photo Retouching supports object removal.
In File Manager, AI can organise files by topic and allow users to ask Small V questions about them. The keyboard can also surface relevant documents, contacts and schedules during conversations.
Atomic Notes can work with third-party AI applications, subject to user authorisation. AI Calendar can organise tasks based on deadlines, duration, preferences and habits.
The Recorder app can highlight key sections and speaker viewpoints, making longer recordings easier to navigate.
OriginOS 7 Battery and Connectivity Features
Vivo has also focused on battery efficiency. The Blue Ocean Smart Engine adjusts power consumption according to activities such as navigation, photography and meetings.
The company claims imaging-related power consumption can drop by up to 11%, while heterogeneous computing can reduce power consumption from UI animations and screen rendering by up to 20%.
OriginOS 7 also introduces Micro-Power Wizard 3.0, which supports limited functions when the battery is critically low. Transparent Battery Life provides estimates for remaining usage time during activities such as video playback, navigation and meetings.
Connectivity features include Vivo Office Suite, which supports cross-device file transfers, screen collaboration and task handoff between Windows, Mac and Web devices.
Smart Car Connectivity 7.0 supports more than 190 automotive brands and 10,000 SKUs, according to Vivo.
OriginOS 7 Accessibility Features
Vivo has added several accessibility-focused AI features. Sign Language Interpreter supports voice, text and sign-language translation, along with conversational translation and AI tutoring.
Vivo Vision uses real-time video understanding to identify objects and answer questions about the user's surroundings.
OriginOS 7 Preview Program in India
The OriginOS 7 Preview Program in India will initially be available for the Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15.
Registrations are scheduled from September 16 to September 20, 2026, with 500 slots for each device. Users can apply through the Settings app by navigating to System Update, Upcoming Updates and Closed Beta Sign-Up.
Registration does not guarantee selection, as Vivo will review applications before choosing eligible users. The preview build is based on Android 17, and users should expect potential bugs, battery fluctuations and app compatibility issues associated with beta software.
OriginOS 7 is expected to debut on upcoming devices including the Vivo X500 series, iQOO 16 and iQOO Pad Ultra, followed by a wider rollout based on Vivo's device schedule.
