OnePlus 13 Price Leak Signals a Sharp Increase Over OnePlus 12—Could It Hit ₹77,000 in India?
OnePlus is gearing up to launch its next flagship, the OnePlus 13, later this month in China. While the phone promises cutting-edge hardware and a potential performance leap, leaked details hint at a possible price bump that could challenge its value proposition.
Potential Price Hike Raises Questions
According to a leaker on Weibo, the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant of the OnePlus 13 will reportedly launch in China at CNY 5,299, a noticeable 10.4% increase from the CNY 4,799 price tag of its predecessor, the OnePlus 12. If this trend extends to other markets, the OnePlus 13 could be priced around ₹77,000 in India, compared to ₹69,999 for the OnePlus 12.

While regional price hikes aren't always guaranteed, the rumors suggest that the increase could be linked to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-or Snapdragon 8 Elite-chipset powering the phone. This next-gen processor is said to be more expensive, with OnePlus likely passing some of the added production costs onto consumers.
Hardware Upgrades and Key Features
The OnePlus 13 is expected to feature several key improvements over its predecessor. One notable upgrade is the shift to an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which offers better reliability and faster unlocking, even with dirty or wet fingers. Similar technology has been seen in other premium phones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and this change could offer a smoother user experience compared to the optical sensors used in earlier models.
The OnePlus 13 is also rumored to come with a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display from BOE, supporting peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits, with 1,600 nits available in high-brightness mode.
Additionally, the device is expected to boast a 6,000mAh battery, 100W fast charging, and 50W magnetic wireless charging. For durability, it may offer IP68 or even IP69 certification, providing enhanced water and dust resistance beyond typical flagship phones.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4
One of the most talked-about aspects of the OnePlus 13 is its chipset. The device is rumored to be among the first to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Early reports suggest that this chip could outperform Apple's A18 Pro, which powers the iPhone 16 Pro series, in certain benchmarks-potentially changing the balance of power between Android and Apple devices.
This shift would be significant, given that Apple has long maintained a performance edge with its custom silicon. If the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 lives up to the hype, it could elevate Android devices to new levels of performance, making the OnePlus 13 a serious competitor in the premium smartphone market.
What's Next?
The OnePlus 13 is expected to launch in China later this month, with a global release likely following in early 2024. While the potential price hike has raised concerns, the upgrades to the processor, display, and fingerprint sensor suggest that OnePlus is aiming to deliver a premium experience with its latest flagship.
Consumers will soon find out if the OnePlus 13 can justify the rumored price increase, but one thing is certain-this device is shaping up to be a major player in the high-end smartphone space.
