Recent reports have tipped that the OnePlus 6 could be announced earlier this year. While the OnePlus 5 was unveiled in June last year, the OnePlus 6 is believed to arrive in May, which is earlier than the launch schedule. However, there was no clarity regarding when exactly the flagship killer will see the light of the day. Now, a leaked media invite suggests that the smartphone will be unveiled on May 5.
As per a launch invite, which is claimed to have been shared over Telegram, the OnePlus 6 is slated to be unveiled on May 5 at 2 PM. As the invite is in Chinese, we believe that the launch event will happen in China and adhere to the Chinese Time Zone. The invite seen in the image above does not divulge any further information about the OnePlus 6.
Though the launch event was expected to happen in May, there were speculations that it might happen at the end of May. Having said that, this leaked invite comes in as a surprise as it suggests that the event will happen on May 5. However, one thing that we would like to mention is that there is no confirmation from the company regarding the May 5 announcement of the flagship smartphone. Until then, we need to consider this invite with a grain of salt.
While we have got to know the alleged launch date of the OnePlus 6 now via the leaked invite, we already know the possible pricing of the three variants of the smartphone. A recent report, which emerged online in the last week suggested that the smartphone will be priced between Rs. 33,999 and Rs. 36,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage space, between Rs. 38,999 and Rs. 42,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage space and between Rs. 44,999 and Rs. 48,999 for the high-end variant with 8GB RAM and a whopping 256GB of storage space.
The report also suggested that high-end variant will be called OnePlus 6 Premium edition. Moreover, it also showed the OnePlus Bullets Wireless headphones without its pricing. Going by the recent reports, the OnePlus Bullets Wireless headphones is expected to be unveiled along with the smartphone and is likely to succeed the Bullets V2 headphones launched back in 2016.
From the previous reports, we know that the OnePlus 6 will have a display notch to house the selfie camera and earpiece. It has also been confirmed that the notch can be hidden if the users are not interested in it as the company will rollout a software update for the same after the announcement of the smartphone. The smartphone is believed to arrive with support for gesture controls and a red color alert slider with a new functionality.
