Xiaomi Mi 6X specs leak ahead of April 25 launch

Xiaomi Mi 6X, which could be launched in the global markets as the Mi A2 is expected to be unveiled on April 25 in China. The invite of the Mi 6X launch was let out by the company lately. Ahead of the official announcement, the complete specifications of the smartphone and its features have been revealed by leaked firmware files. These files give us a clarity on what we can expect from the company next week.

The firmware files obtained by those at XDA Developers suggest that the Xiaomi Mi 6X might employ a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC clocked at 2GHz speed. The files have revealed that the handset will have a microSD card slot facilitating in expandable storage space. Also, the leak sheds light on the presence of a 5.99-inch display with FHD+ resolution. The other aspects include an IR blaster, which will let the smartphone double as a universal remote control.

Xiaomi Mi 6X camera

On the imaging front, the Xiaomi Mi 6X aka Mi A2 has been spotted to feature a dual-camera setup at its rear. This camera module might comprise of a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor with an aperture of f/1.8 and a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with a similar aperture. The rear camera is said to support 4K video recording at a frame rate of 30fps but miss out on optical zoom. The front-facing selfie camera appears to be a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a selfie flash too. The selfie camera will have Portrait Mode.

Software

The leaked firmware files do not stop with revealing the above-mentioned specs. These files also confirm that the Mi 6X will run Android 8.0 Oreo topped with MIUI 9. The device is said to come with the AI feature, which will enhance the image results. On the other hand, the Mi A2, the variant of the handset outside of China is expected to run stock Android.

TENAA listing

A leaked TENAA listing of the Mi 6X revealed that the smartphone would arrive in three storage and RAM configurations. These variants will come with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage space, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage space and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage space. The smartphone is believed to make use of a 2910mAh battery.
