Redmi Note 7S: Design

The Redmi Note 7S came in a few weeks after the launch of the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Note 7. The Redmi Note 7S looks almost identical to the Redmi Note 7 with an all-glass design (plastic frame) offering a gradient design. At the front, the device has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen with FHD+ resolution, protected by 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display flaunts a dot drop notch, which makes it a modern looking smartphone.

Redmi Note 7S: Hardware Performance

The Redmi Note 7S is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with at least 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The Snapdragon 660 is a capable mid-tier chipset which can handle day to day tasks without any issues. Similarly, the device can also play games like PUBG at medium graphics settings. The smartphone should not have any issues with respect to day to day usage like browsing social media apps to watching videos on YouTube.

Redmi Note 7S: Camera Performance

The smartphone has a dual-camera setup with a 48MP Samsung GM-1 sensor, accompanied by a 5MP depth sensor.  At the front, the device has a 13MP selfie camera with support for face unlock. Under Rs, 12,000, the Redmi Note 7S is a value for money device that almost has no compromises. The smartphone is also available in 4GB RAM and 64GB storage for Rs. 12,999.

Redmi Note 7S: Important Features/Highlights

The Redmi Note 7S packs in a 4000 mAh battery with support for fast charging (18W) via USB type C with a dedicated headphone jack. However, the retail package comes with a 10W fast charger, and one has to buy a fast charger to utilize this feature. The device does offer a premium design, and the 48MP sensor is definitely the highlight of the smartphone, even though it is a Samsung sensor. Lastly, the device runs on the latest Android 9 Pie OS with custom MIUI 10 skin on top.

Redmi Note 7S: Verdict

The Redmi Note 7S seems like the entry-level Redmi Note that we expected from the company. For the asking price, the device offers a lot compared to the competition. How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
