Elon Musk “Read Limit” On Tweets Causing Mass Exodus From Twitter To Bluesky Social, Massive Surge Indicates
Twitter experienced a massive drop in active users due to an abrupt and restrictive rule that Elon Musk imposed on all users in varying intensity. The microblogging network witnessed a massive walkout and the majority of those users seem to have walked straight to Bluesky Social.
Bluesky Social, an emerging, text-based social media site backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, experienced a massive surge in visitors yesterday. The sudden large influx perfectly coincided with Twitter's new rule that limited users to a specific number of Tweets per day.

Twitter Users Unhappy With Elon Musk's Arbitrary And Restrictive Rule
Elon Musk, who owns Twitter, announced this week that the popular social media platform will be implementing new restrictions on the number of tweets users can view per day.
Elon Musk Tweeted information about the restrictions on viewing tweets. The restrictions were imposed immediately after the Tweet was sent out.
Musk claimed he wanted to thwart or limit the widespread practice of data scraping and system manipulation. As indicated in the Tweet, verified accounts, unverified accounts, and new unverified accounts are being subjected to different limits on the social media site.
Musk changed the limits several times on Saturday. Currently, verified accounts can view 10,000 Tweets a day, while unverified accounts can view 1,000 and new unverified accounts can access only 500.
There are hundreds of Tweets through which Twitter users reported seeing a "Rate limit exceeded" error message when they viewed their allotted number of posts. The hashtag #TwitterDown too started trending on Twitter.
Why Are People Flocking To Bluesky Social?
Elon Musk's decision to restrict user activity and content visibility sparked a wave of reactions, with most being negative. Thousands of individuals reported issues with the service and highlighted the significantly damaging impact this change is having on Twitter's considerably big user base.
Bluesky Social is an experimental text-based social media platform that is backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. The platform is currently welcoming users only via invites, which suggests it is in a beta testing phase.
Bluesky claimed its systems were experiencing "some degraded performance as a result of record-high traffic." The platform also had to temporarily pause sign-ups to address performance issues.
After Elon Musk acquired Twitter, several similar social media platforms experienced a surge in sign-ups. However, their daily active users haven't grown as expected.
Twitter, on the other hand, has been experiencing steady organic growth. However, such restrictions on user activity and limits on their access to the platform can't be healthy for Twitter.
