ChatGPT Suffers Major Outage: Hundreds Of Users Struggling With Access, Login Errors, And More
ChatGPT is suffering its first major outage. Thousands of users have been trying to log on to the platform only to be denied access. Several users who had paid for ChatGPT Plus have claimed that the Generative AI platform doesn't recognize the status of their accounts.
Disgruntled users took to social media to complain that OpenAI's ChatGPT was refusing to start-up or answer queries. The chatbot also failed to acknowledge the account status, and consequentially, denied priority access to ChatGPT Plus.

ChatGPT Facing Weird Issues And Is Denying Access
Down Detector, a website that records complaints about outages and issues with access to popular websites and digital platforms, also acknowledged that ChatGPT wasn't working for thousands of users,
Down Detector said ChatGPT started behaving erratically at around 08:45GMT and affected users globally. In other words, the Generative AI platform's outage wasn't restricted to a particular region or a select group of users.

From the reports submitted to Down Detector, 82 percent of users indicated that they were having problems with the ChatGPT platform, 11 percent had trouble logging in, and 7 percent struggled to access the website.
As expected, social media platforms were flooded with complaints from disgruntled users. Several users even claimed that OpenAI, the organization funded by Microsoft, wasn't honoring the commitment made to ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
Accounts Of ChatGPT Plus Subscribers Being Cancelled Out?
OpenAI offers two access pathways to ChatGPT. While the majority of users use ChatGPT for free, there are many who pay a monthly subscription fee to secure features and benefits not available to free users.
The ChatGPT Plus membership currently costs $20 per month. OpenAI has launched the ChatGPT Plus subscription in India for ₹1,650 per month.
The ChatGPT Plus subscription plan grants access to a chatbot powered by OpenAI's latest GPT-4 technology. In addition to general access, paying users are assured priority access even during peak times.
ChatGPT Plus members are said to get faster response times. Microsoft has also indicated that subscribers will receive priority access to new features and improvements.
Needless to mention, ever since ChatGPT started experiencing problems this morning, even the ChatGPT Plus platform behaved erratically.
Several subscribers also claimed their memberships had vanished. In other words, some of these paying members were being treated as free users.
Microsoft and OpenAI recently confirmed that ChatGPT APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) would be available to developers and businesses. Simply put, companies could easily insert ChatGPT-4 inside their platforms and benefit from Generative AI. It is possible that the backend cloud computing infrastructure may be reeling under the pressure of increased queries.
