September 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest months of the year for smartphone launches, with Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek and several major Android brands preparing to unveil their next-generation devices. The month is expected to bring the new iPhone lineup, alongside a fresh wave of Android flagships powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek Dimensity 9500 platforms.

The new chipsets are set to raise the bar for smartphone performance, AI capabilities, cameras and gaming, while flagship makers including Xiaomi and Vivo are expected to introduce their latest premium smartphones. With multiple major launches converging in the same month, September 2026 could set the tone for the next phase of flagship smartphone competition.

Smartphones Launching in September 2026

iPhone 18 Pro Series and iPhone Ultra

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will make their debuts on September 9. Apple is expected to launch the vanilla iPhone 18 next year, although another debutant at Apple's event in September will be the iPhone Ultra, Apple's first foldable. The new Pro models are expected to bring upgrades across performance, cameras and display technology, while the foldable could mark Apple's entry into an entirely new smartphone category.

Vivo X500 Series

Next up is the Vivo X500 series, which is expected to debut in China in September. The flagship lineup will bring major camera and display upgrades, with the X500 Pro series featuring Vivo's BluePrint imaging technology. The top-end Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to sport a 6.85-inch 2K BOE Q11 Zeiss Master Color display, while the series is also tipped to feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.

Poco F9 Series

Next up is the POCO F9 series, which is set to make its global debut later today. The lineup is expected to include the POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, with both phones likely to target performance-focused buyers. The F9 Ultra is tipped to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, while the series could also bring high-refresh-rate displays, large batteries and upgraded cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE

Next up is the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE, which has already been launched in select global markets and is expected to go on sale in India soon. The Fan Edition smartphone features the Exynos 2500 chipset, a 120Hz AMOLED display and Android 17. It is positioned as a more affordable alternative to Samsung's flagship Galaxy S26 series while retaining several premium features.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Series

The Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max are already available in select global markets and could launch in India on September 15. The Pro model is expected to feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display and 9,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max could pack a 10,000mAh battery with 100W charging.

iQOO 16

The iQOO 16 is expected to debut in China in September, although a specific date has not been confirmed. It could feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, a 2K LTPO AMOLED display with up to a 185Hz refresh rate, triple 50MP rear cameras and a battery of up to 8,500mAh.

Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Fold

The Xiaomi 18 Pro series is confirmed to launch in China towards the end of September. The phones could be among the first to use Qualcomm's next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Xiaomi is also preparing the Xiaomi 18 Fold for a September launch in China, while the standard Xiaomi 18 is now rumoured to arrive later.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G+

The Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G+ will launch in India on September 4 at 12pm IST. It is expected to feature a 6.76-inch 144Hz display, a slim 7.85mm body and an Interactive Active Matrix Cube on the rear panel. The phone could also pack up to 8GB RAM, 256GB storage and a 5,600mAh-6,000mAh battery with 45W charging.

POCO X8 Series

The POCO X8 series will launch in India on September 4 at 12pm IST, exclusively via Flipkart. The lineup includes the POCO X8 and performance-focused X8 Power, with expected prices of Rs 28,000-Rs 30,000 and around Rs 35,000, respectively. Highlights include 1.5K 120Hz OLED displays, Snapdragon chipsets, up to 10,000mAh batteries, 100W charging, IP68/IP69 ratings and extended software support.

Vivo T5 5G

The Vivo T5 5G is scheduled to launch in India on September 2, bringing a MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset and a massive 7,050mAh battery. It will feature a 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 2,000 nits brightness. The phone will run Android 16 with OriginOS 6 and is expected to cost between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000.

Mivi One 5G

Mivi is preparing to enter India's smartphone market with the Mivi One 5G, which has appeared on Geekbench. The phone is listed with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, 6GB RAM and Android 16. It scored 677 points in single-core and 1,490 points in multi-core testing. An earlier exclusive report suggests the phone could be priced below Rs 15,000.

Philips S7221

The Philips S7221 is also set to join the September smartphone rush, with the company preparing to enter India's 5G smartphone segment. The phone will feature a 6.67-inch HD 120Hz display, up to 8GB RAM, 256GB storage and a 64MP AI rear camera, alongside a 16MP selfie camera. It will also offer dual stereo speakers and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

OPPO F35 Pro

The OPPO F35 Pro could launch in India in September after its earlier August launch window reportedly slipped. Expected to be priced between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000, the phone could feature a 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPS OLED display and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. Its other highlights may include a 50MP camera, IP69K rating and a huge 10,000mAh battery.

With a mix of flagship launches, foldables and feature-packed mid-range smartphones, September 2026 is set to be a packed month for smartphone enthusiasts. From Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series and first foldable to new offerings from Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, POCO and others, the month could bring some of the biggest smartphone upgrades of the year.
