It won't be an exaggeration to say that OnePlus 6 is the talk of the tech world in the recent times. We say so as the smartphone is circulating in a plethora of rumors and leaks for quite some time. We have got to know many aspects regarding the OnePlus 6 and some of these have also been officially confirmed by the company.
A few days back, the co-founder of OnePlus, Carl Pei confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will feature a display notch at the top center of the screen in an interview. He also revealed the first official render of the smartphone showing the render clearly. Not stopping there, he revealed the dimensions of the notch suggesting that it is smaller than the one on the iPhone X and came up with an explanation for its presence. Basically, the notch on the OnePlus 6 will house the selfie camera, earpiece and sensor.
Now, a Weibo user via Slashleaks has come up with a short 2-second hands-on video of the OnePlus 6 showing a part of the device including its display notch. The notch is seen to house the selfie camera, earpiece and sensor as confirmed by Carl Pei. The video shows the navigation between the home screens. Besides the notch, the thin bezels at the sides of the smartphone are also visible in this video.
Following the response that the company received from its consumers, OnePlus announced that the notch on the screen can be hidden if the users do not want it. The company assured that they will rollout a software update soon after the announcement of the OnePlus 6. This update will bring a blackout feature, which will hide the notch.
Yesterday, we came across a leaked press invite suggesting that the OnePlus 6 could be announced on May 5 in China. While we await an official confirmation regarding the announcement date of the flagship killer, there are speculations that the OnePlus 6 could see the light of the day earlier this year and a teaser from the company also hints at the same.
The smartphone has been confirmed to arrive with the Snapdragon 845 SoC teamed up with 8GB RAM and 256GB of default memory capacity and this is supposed to be the high-end variant. Also, the leaked Indian pricing of the smartphone reveals that the OnePlus 6 could arrive in three variants and the base variant is said to be priced starting Rs. 33,999.
