Micromax IN 1: Design

Micromax has officially launched yet another mid-range smartphone -- the Micromax IN 1 in India. The latest offering from the company has a large 6.67-inch display at the front with FHD+ resolution and a punch-hole cutout. The back and the frame of the phone are made using plastic, which is a bummer.

Micromax IN 1: Hardware Performance

The Micromax IN 1 is powered by the Mediatek Helio G80 SoC, which is an octa-core processor, coupled with at least 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. The smartphone should be able to handle most of the regular tasks like browsing the web or surfing social media sites without any issue.

Micromax IN 1: Camera Performance

The Micromax IN 1 has a triple camera setup at the back with a 48MP primary sensor, paired with a 2MP depth sensor, 2MP macro lens. Despite having a triple camera setup, the device does not have an ultra-wide-angle lens or a telephoto lens, which is a disadvantage of this device. The main 48MP camera should capture good pictures in good and daylight conditions.

Micromax IN 1: Price To Specs Ratio

The Micromax IN 1's price starts at Rs. 9,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is also another variant of the Micromax IN 1 which offers 6GB RAM and 128GB storage and costs Rs. 11,499, which also seems to offer great value for money, considering it offers double to amount of storage and extra 2GB RAM when compared to the base model.

Micromax IN 1: Important Features/Highlights

The Micromax IN 1 is one of the few smartphones in the market that offers stock Android UI without any third-party app or launcher, allowing users to install the apps and games that they want to install. There is also a 5,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging via the USB Type-C port, and the device does have a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack.

Micromax IN 1: Verdict

The Micromax IN 1 seems like a great budget smartphone, especially considering the price of the device. With the base model priced less than Rs. 10,000, the device offers an FHD+ display, stock Android, 5,000 mAh battery, and a 48MP primary camera. Overall, the Micromax IN 1 is a great budget smartphone for sure.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
