Oppo A15: Design

The Oppo A15 adds up to the company’s budget smartphone portfolio. It is launched with an identical design as the Realme Narzo 20 which was also announced recently in the Indian market. The smartphone dons a matte-textured gradient rear surface. There is a circular fingerprint scanner at the centre of the back panel for security. The triple-rear cameras are housed within a square-shaped module along with an LED flash. It has the volume and the power key on the right edge, while the left panel stores the dedicated microSD card. The display on the Oppo A15 measures 6.52-inches and is an LCD panel. It offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and 20:9 aspect ratio. There is a waterdrop notch which accommodates the selfie camera.

Oppo A15: Hardware Performance

The Oppo A15 makes use of the entry-level MediaTek Helio P35 processor. This octa-core chipset has a clock speed of up to 2.3GHz and is paired with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The device comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option. The device also has an external microSD card support of up to 256GB. The device will be able to perform basic tasks with ease but might have some hiccups with high-end games and multitasking.

Oppo A15: Price To Specs Ratio

The Oppo A15 can be purchased for Rs. 10,990. The company is selling the device in a single 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option. The price is similar to the Narzo 20 with which it shares the design and some of the internals as well. The handset will be available in two colour options which include Mystery Blue and Dynamic Black colours.

Oppo A15: Camera Performance

The Oppo A15 has a 13MP primary camera for imaging which has an f/2.2 aperture. The main sensor is paired up with a 2MP sensor for macro photography and another 2MP sensor for depth mapping. Both macro and the depth sensor come with an f/2.4 aperture. The rear cameras support 1080p@30fps videos, HDR, and Portrait modes. You will be able to click good daylight images with the triple-lens setup on the Oppo A15. For selfies, the smartphone equips a 5MP sensor inside the waterdrop notch with an f/2.2 aperture.

Oppo A15: Highlight/ Important Features

The Oppo A15 has a 4,230 mAh battery unit. The device comes void of fast charging support, rather it is backed by standard 10W charging. Since the hardware is not high-end, the battery is capable of delivering a backup of more than half a day on a single charge. Software-wise, the smartphone makes use of Android 10-based Color OS 7.2 user interface.

Oppo A15: Verdict

The Oppo A15 lands as yet another budget offering in the Indian market packed with a decent set of hardware. Sub Rs. 10,000 segment has been one of the most competitive when it comes to smartphones. And Oppo has been catering well to the audience in this category. The latest model is priced a few bucks above Rs. 10,000, but has all the internals to take care of the basic smartphone usage.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
