The Redmi 9 arrives as one of the latest budget offerings by Xiaomi. It is the successor to the Redmi 8 which was announced last year in India. The device sports a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display which offers an HD+ resolution with 720 x 1600 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 20:9. It features a Dot notch design complemented by narrow bezels on all sides. The handset features an Aurora Edge design at the rear and is announced in three different shades. The colour options include Carbon Black, Sporty Orange, and Sky Blue colours.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is driven by the MediaTek Helio G35 processor which has eight cores. This is an entry-level gaming processor which is clubbed along with 4GB RAM. This is a relatively new processor delivers good performance. The processor is not just capable of handling a basic set of tasks but also can handle gaming and multitasking at hand with ease. Besides, this is a game-centric processor, so, you can expect it to perform decently with the graphic-rich games as well. The device comes with a 64GB/128GB storage configuration. Xiaomi has launched the handset in two different variants. The Redmi 9 base model which has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option is priced at Rs. 8,999. On the other hand, the 4GB/128GB model is launched for Rs. 1,000 more at Rs. 9,999. The pricing is reasonable looking at the spec-sheet. Under Rs. 10,000, you get a dual-camera smartphone which is powered by an entry-level game-centric processor.

One of the biggest highlights of Xiaomi’s latest budget smartphone is a massive 5,000 mAh battery unit. This big battery will allow the device to deliver a backup of almost an entire day on a single charge. That’s keeping in mind basic to moderate usage. Also, the smartphone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for additional security. Notably, you do get the standard PIN, password, and Face Unlock security features.
