Vivo Y30: Design

The Vivo Y30 is the latest mid-range smartphone with a single punch-hole display design. The smartphone has a modern design with a higher screen-to-body ratio. However, the smartphone does have a bit of chin at the bottom of the device like most of the budget and mid-range smartphones. The Vivo Y30 has a 6.47-inch IPS LCD screen with 720p or HD+ resolution and the screen is protected by a 2.5D curved tempered glass. The smartphone does offer a 60Hz refresh rate and the panel does look bright and vivid when compared to the competition.

Vivo Y30: Hardware Performance

The Vivo Y30 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC, an octa-core processor with a peak CPU clock speed of 2.3GHz and it packs the custom IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, capable of handling gaming and other graphics-intensive tasks without an issue. Though this might not be a full-fledged gaming smartphone it can handle most of the regular tasks without any issue. The device packs 4GB RAM and offers 128GB internal storage with a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. Besides, the smartphone also supports 4G LTE and VoLTE on both slots.

Vivo Y30: Camera Performance

The Vivo Y30 has a 13 MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. The smartphone also has an 8MP selfie camera that does support features like portrait mode and 1080p video recording capability. The primary quad-camera setup on the Vivo Y30 is pretty average and at this price range most of the quad-camera smartphones offer either a 48MP or even a 64MP camera sensor and that feature is missing on the Vivo Y30. The primary sensor has a smaller f/2.2 aperture and this is not the smartphone that works well in the low-lighting conditions.

Vivo Y30: Price To Specs Ratio

The Vivo Y30 retails for Rs. 14,990 and this smartphone is priced similar to the some of the trending mid-range smartphones like the Realme 6 or the Redmi Note 9 Pro. For the asking price, the smartphone does deliver a good specs sheet, capable of handling most of the tasks of the regular task without any issue. The Vivo Y30 offers the right mix of hardware with no fancy features. This smartphone is designed for regular usage and it does not any a major USP that helps distinguish this device from the competition.

Vivo Y30: Important Features/Highlights

The Vivo Y30 has a 5,000 mAh battery and the smartphone does support fast charging via the USB Type-C port. For those who want to listen to music using their wired earphones or headphones, the same can also be achieved using the built-in 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone runs on Android 10 OS with custom FunTouch OS skin on top with features like custom theme supports and it also packs in some of the features that are not present on the stock Android OS. It also supports dual-band (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth 5.0 for seamless wireless connectivity.

Vivo Y30: Verdict

The Vivo Y30 is a good mid-range smartphone with some drawbacks. At this price, the company should have included an FHD/FHD+ resolution display and it just offers a 720p HD panel and the smartphone's processor is also not as powerful as the contemporaries.

How do we rate a Device?

Rating a smartphone is a tedious process and a lot of parameters have to be considered before judging the overall performance of the device such as display, camera, processor, RAM, storage, battery, and the pricing.

So, here are how these specs will affect the real-life usage of a device and why how we meticulously consider each of these points to rate a smartphone.

Camera

Cameras have evolved a lot over the last few years and multi-camera setup is a new norm. We consider various parameters like MP count, aperture size, pixel size, image stabilization to rate a camera system of a smartphone out of 5. Any device that scores more than 3.5 can take good photos and videos and if a phone scores over 4, then it will be one of the best camera smartphones in the market.

Battery

Though battery seems like an underrated feature and we look at the battery capacity, fast charging supporting technology, and even the wireless charging capability is also taken into consideration to rate smartphone's battery capability.

Display

The display is the face of a smartphone. And there are a lot of parameters like the panel technology (IPS LCD, OLED, TFT) and other parameters also taken into consideration like the resolution, pixel density, and refresh rate.

Value for Money

A smartphone could have great specs, but if it is not priced well then you might not get the best value-for-money. So, we compare a smartphone with the contemporaries to rate the value-for-money of a device out of 5.

Performance

This aspect is decided on various sub specifics, such as availability of microSD card slot, the amount of RAM the device offers, processor capability, and the network support. This parameter has more weightage when compared to other departments.
