Sony Xperia Tipo: Hands-On Review

Xperia Tipo comes with Music and Video app, which highlights music and videos that friends have shared over social networks. Like other Sony smartphones, this one also offers great sound quality. Moreover, there are several equalizer settings in the handset. The xLoud and Walkman integration offers outstanding audio output.

Further, the media player also lets users to play videos up to 480p without any lag, but anything above resolution plays like a slideshow. Xperia Tipo also comes with TrackID, similar to Shazam - identifying songs and linking you to places where you can purchase them.

Camera

Xperia Tipo sports a 3.2MP fixed focus camera without flash and lacks a front camera for video calling, which is present in several entry-level smartphones. Under low light, pictures contain too much noise and it does not fare well.

There are at least quite a few settings to play with - scene modes including night, sports, beach and snow, but you can manually adjust the exposure value, white balance and metering. These can all easily be changed with a menu that pops up over the camera display, which enables you to see the effects of any changes you make as they happen.

On the whole, Xperia Tipo camera fares better indoors and not up to the mark in bright light conditions.
