IFA 2017: TCL unveils AI enabled Smart TV range at IFA 2017
The new TV series include QLED Private Theatre X6 Meta and P6 TV. Both are AI enabled and promise to bring new content solutions.
Smartphones and PCs are not the only center stage in this year's annual tech show- IFA 2017. Other consumer products are also making headlines at the tech show. TCL, the widely known TV maker has announced the launch of company's latest smart TVs at the annual tech show- IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany. The latest range of TVs is equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and features QLED technology.
As per TCL, the new range illustrates company's ambition of inspiring "The Creative Life" of consumers through premium TV experiences combining innovative intelligence, fabulous functionalities, superb sound and great design.
The supersized QLED flagship XESS Private Theatre X6 is designed to offer cinematic movie viewing experience. The 85-inch QLED XESS Private Theatre X6 features Quantum Dot technology and is said to be the thinnest local dimming-supported supersized TV in the world. The Private Theatre XESS X6 is TCL's third generation of QLED TVs. As per TCL, the TV accurately represents 1.07 billion colors and 157% (BT.709) range. With a color volume that is 2.8× higher than OLED (500nits), XESS X6 has a color purity that is 58.3% better. At 60,000 hours, its color lifespan is also twice that of a regular OLED TV.
The X6 comes with a 12-sound channel and 360° surround stereo sound, as well as eight independent amplifiers. Designed with rare earth magnets and equipped with silk dome loudspeakers, the X6 creates is said to offer the most authentic theater sound achievable at home. The X6 is crafted out of metallic elements with walnut grain wood texture. It can be hung on the wall, or placed on a cabinet or the floor.
Next in the list is X2, the QLED Android TV from TCL's flagship XESS Series, which received the iF Design Award earlier this year and is expected to reach store shelves in Europe starting this fall. The company hasn't specified anything on the launch date for other markets.
The X2 XESS Series has a 360° design with virtually no frame. It also works on company's Quantum Dot technology-TCL QLED that enables the X2 to display richer colors with contrast optimized with Ultra Micro Dimming.. The X2 XESS Series benefits from HDR Pro technology, which delivers 103% DCI-P3 color volume with precise light and dark shade reproduction. The TV also incorporates JBL 3-way, front-firing speaker system. The ne TCL TV also comes equipped with voice commands and also provides access to Android TV 6.0 (and soon 7.0) platform's content including Netflix and YouTube in 4K HDR quality.
TCL has also unveiled the mid-range P6 TV that features a 4K UHD display technology. The P6 is said to have an ultra-slim body piece, elegant flow line and a 4.8mm narrow bezel. It is available in 43"-65" sizes and will be launched in overseas markets from Q4 2017.
The highlight of TCL's latest TVs is the AI platform. TCL's AI roadmap focuses on five key pillars, including: user interaction such as voice, image and movement recognition; aggregated content for faster movie watching, information and operations; customized information, such as user preference, user tag and dedicated content; and in-depth interconnectivity with other devices.
The platform will be supported by Google and leading Chinese web search engine Baidu, and the company is leveraging the power of big data and cloud computing to create a smart experience.
